These nuts are also known as hex couplers and are used to join two separate pieces of threaded material of the same diameter. Both hex and heavy hex couplers are typically threaded with right-hand threads on both ends. When a right-hand/left-hand thread configuration is required for tensioning or adjustment, a sleeve nut is the preferred solution.
